THE OTHER COLOUR

The Other Colour
The past year has seen the development of a band that has a lot of influence from that great period in time, the 70's. You get a taste of that in their music from the vocals to the writing style. This is great music writing and is a refreshing change from what has been the norm lately, my head is getting sore from banging it music. They have their first album coming out very shortly which I am excited about plus I can't wait for the second album because some of the new material that didn't make it in time for the first album is coming across as some of the audiences favorite tunes to listen to live. They have a lot of gigs coming up, so I will try to keep you posted as to the dates and also the release of their new album. This is definitely a must see live band that should not be missed, get out there and support the great talent that makes a difference.

Applauze Productions

In September I started working for a new production company by the name of Applauze Productions as the Technical Director. This is a name change for a previous company called Denise Krawczuk Music Productions. With this change comes a number of improvements, and opportunities for the clients and customer. Added to the singing & coaching lessons, plus involvement in many productions, there will be acting classes for junior and senior levels added and musical theatre training also. They now offer rentals for sound and lighting equipment with a sound engineer for bands, plays, theatre, musicals, conferences etc. There are more things to come as the company grows and expands which is happening quickly so keep close tabs on the progress of this superb production company. You can view their new web page at www.applauzeproductions.ca - check it out.

Jordan Krawczuk takes basket ball to a new Level!

I have watched the last three games that the Nip-Rock Lakers Senior basket ball team have played and had the privaledge of photographing for the school. They played very well at times but sometime were just outsized and out powered. I had the chance to see Jordan play really for the first time this season and was amazed at many of the monuver's he pulled out of his hat. I believe this to be the best basket ball he has ever played and it was wonderful to watch this develope through the game and photograph it on (digital) film. Jordan later stated that these were the best games he had ever played to date and it felt very good. They won the third game that I was able to watch and Jordan along with 2 other great team mate's were the top scoring players of the game with Jordan receiving the MVP of the game.

WINTER SUCKS 2008 @ Kilroy's Jan. 18th

This is the review posted by TBSHOWS.com for the band BACK-ROADS first out of town concert at Kilroy's Bar and Concert Hall in Thunder Bay.

BACK-ROADS - I was REALLY hoping these guys didnt suck because most of their parents are friends with my parents and most of the guys in the band are friends with my younger brother and if they sucked it would have been hard to be honest. But they did nothing of the sort. These guys love the stage, they were comfortable, collected and calm up there. They were moving around, having fun and rocking out which isnt something you see with a lot of bands at their first show. The guitarist broke a string in the first song and managed to stay in tune and play the rest of the set without it which isnt something Ive ever seen at a band's first show, most of the time the band will even stop in the middle of the song like its a jam and start fiddling around, but this kid was a trooper about it. The material was strong, the singer was strong and with practice these guys will get even better.
The Band will be performing in Thunder Bay February 20th @ ScuttleButts and at Kilroy's again later in the month possibly with the date to be announced.

There will be a number of solo acts and duets but one of the main attractions will be the first live performance of a New Band called BACK-ROADS. This group was brought together rather recently, Tim and Bryce have been playing together for about 7-8 months now, and recently brought the group together including Jordan K. on drums and a temporary bassist for this CD, Tim and Bryce recently competed in the 2007 High School Idol Original Category and won with their song "Yesterday" written and music by Tim. Their Next step is the CD entitled "Sketched" and Tim plans to compete in Canadian Idol in Spring 2008. This band consists of Bryce Smith on guitar, Tim Alberson on vocals and guitar, and the one and only Jordan Krawczuk on drums and guitar with Jared Shaaf on bass guitar. They have been practicing extensively for this engagement which is a prelude into their first CD "Sketched" that they are currently recording at Wolf Ear Studio for release hopefully by Christmas but more like early winter. Sketched have invested a lot of time and effort into this project which will be an ac compilation of songs that have been written by some of the members and as a group. The band will be greatly anticipated by all and some of their individual efforts will probably show up also along with many others, this is a must see production. By the way the production will be sponsored by Live From The Rock Blues & Folk Society with sound engineering by Russell Krawczuk, don't miss it.
